Chemical Stripping

Chemical Stripping

Part of the alloy wheel refurbishment process involves stripping the alloy wheel back to its bare metal. Typically, when an alloy wheel is corroded or has flaky paint, it is necessary to chemically strip them.

At Diamond Cut Refurbs, we don’t just chemically strip alloy wheels.

While we are definitely experts at this, we can also chemically strip any metal components you have and provide you with the chemical solution you are looking for.

We work with a number of companies and local enthusiasts to chemically strip different types of metal components and have great success in doing so.

Chemical stripping involves the submersion of parts into a chemical tank. The chemical used is a methylene chloride-based cold acid stripper, which works aggressively to remove most surface coatings and leave a clean paint-free surface to work with.

Chemical stripping is highly effective if you are looking to remove any contaminants from any metal components you have.

We take great care in ensuring your components receive the chemical stripping procedure that will achieve the best results.

Our process normally looks something like this:

1. We inspect your metal component or wheel.

2. After inspection, we submerge your metal component or alloy wheels in a chemical solution.

3. We then lift this out of the chemical solution and dip it into a neutralising solution.

4. After this process, we will take it out of the neutralising  solution and wash it.

5. When the component is washed thoroughly, we give it one final inspection to ensure it’s ready to go.

Chemical stripping is such an effective process as the chemical lifts the paint from alloys or component parts without leaving any marks or scratches.
